From Hobby to Business
Hidden Valley Honey and the home of the Foster family is tucked away on an acre lot in Reno, Nevada. In 1997, a swarm of bees invaded the Fosters’ California property. Chris and Karen Foster decided to turn the problem into a hobby by taking care of the bees and harvesting honey and pollen. The Fosters moved to Reno in 2002 and brought eight hives with them. Eventually the hobby morphed into a business, and Hidden Valley Honey was born. The hives now number more than 200, and the whole family has worked in various aspects of the business.
